Aka Mojave Wind Fest Review: 14 vintage trailers
braved the discouraging weather reports forecast for the weekend to arrive
at the The wind fest, as Doug
has termed the outing, began Saturday morning.
The wind did not stop us from enjoying the unexpected events of the
day. Doug Hall invited us to
his museum/yard/garages which house his vintage trailers, autos, camping
gear and almost seemingly infinite number of vintage collectibles.
Comments heard from the viewing gallery were incredulous, fabulous, fantastic,
incredible, and unbelievable.
Oh, yes, also “Oh, my God!”
Words do not really describe Doug’s collection (www.dougsvintagetrailers.com).
Thank you, Doug, for sharing with us “amateur” collectors. Many of us continued
on to the Route 66 Museum and Visitors center in Victorville in addition
to shopping at a couple antique stores. The wind continued to
hammer us throughout the day. A
wise decision was made to seek out a local Chinese Buffet for the potluck
event. That proved to be a good decision as we encountered, good food,
warmth with no wind, and good company. It was still windy
Sunday morning, but most of us took our time in leaving.
We enjoyed sharing our vintage trailers, adventure stories,
restoration “secrets” and advice, and talk of future get-togethers.
Thank you to all who attended and especially to Dennis & Jeannie Kaho
who organized the outing and to Doug Hall for providing us with our
sightseeing activities and adventure.
Be sure to take a look at the pictures for this outing. We hope to see you at
the next vintage trailer event. Happy trailering!
